- My post about the Charlie Parker Orgy inspired me to slide the recording of this legendary concert (featuring Parker, Dizzie Gillespie, Bud Powell, Charles Mingus, and Max Roach) into the cd changer.
- Sonny Rollins - Saxophone Colossus
- A classic jazz album, by a classic jazz artist. And, he's coming to the RIJF!
- Eric Dolphy - Out to Lunch
- The opening few bars of "Hat & Beard" always get my head bopping.
- Stanton Moore - All Kooked Out!
- This will be my first listen to this cd by the drummer of Galactic.
- John Adams - Chamber Symphony/Grand Pianola Music
- John Adams is obviously a favorite of mine, but my first reaction to this cd was kind of meh. Grand Pianola Music in particular just sounds noisy to me.
- Steve Reich - Desert Music
- Michael Tilson Thomas (former music director for the Buffalo Pilharmonic) directs the Chorus & Members of the Brooklyn Philharmonic.
