Downloaded from the iTunes Store

Warning: shopping at the iTunes online store can become addictive. iTunes satisfies the "on-a-whim" shopping impulse better than almost anything else I've found. Tonight I bought 2 full albums and burned them to cd in about 15 minutes. That said, I use it sparingly, because I know how much trouble I could cause if I let myself go. So here are the most recent purchases, carefully considered and agonized over before I pressed the "Buy Now" button.

DJ Logic - Presents Project Logic
DJ Logic - The Anomaly
I first heard DJ Logic backing up Medeski, Martin & Wood in a killer concert a couple of years ago at the Rochester Jazz Fest. These cds capture that same groove. BTW, iTunes files DJ Logic under Hip-Hop/Rap. That's about as ridiculous as labeling MMW as jazz artists. They defy categorization.
Thievery Corporation - Mirror Conspiracy
Thievery Corporation - The Richest Man in Babylon
I downloaded these a while back. A more mellow groove than DJ Logic, but just as inviting. Check out the free sample mp3s from Amazon.
Franz Ferdinand - Franz Ferdinand
I finally downloaded this album after spending a week of having their hit single "Take Me Out" buzzing around in my brain. I've heard this band's sound described as what The Strokes would sound like after sending a couple of years at the Sorbonne.
Modest Mouse - Good News For People Who Love Bad News
Another of the current crop of pop standouts. I currently have the single "Float On" buzzing around in my head. I hope to drive it out by repeatedly listening to this cd, followed by a heavy rotation of DJ Logic.
