12th to 21st Century

The Hilliard Ensemble - Perotin
This is true chant. The music of Perotin, a 12th century French composer, is delicate and peaceful, yet full of life.
Christopher Poppen and The Hilliard Ensemble - Morimur
This recording was based in part on musicologist Helga Thoene's discovery that there were hidden chorales and quotations buried within the famous Ciaccona of Bach's Partita in D Minor. The cd is comprised of Poppen's performance of the Partita interspersed with the chorales sung by the Hilliard Ensemble. The cd concludes with the Ciaccona, played by Poppen, overlaying the chorales. the result is truly stunning and beautiful.
Trio Mediaeval - Words of the Angel
14th century chant performed by a trio of female singers. Soaring and beautiful.
Tragically Hip - Phantom Power
My favorite album from Canada's favorite rock band. 'Bobcaygeon' can still give me chills.
The White Stripes - Elephant
Straight up bluesy rock & roll. Nothin' fancy, just a load of fun.
Flatt & Scruggs - The Best of Flatt & Scruggs - The Millenium Collection
Because everyone needs a little bluegrass in their life.
