Tornado Pictures

Cleanup continues at Allegen Farm. Here are some pictures taken by Erma and Leon that I am just now getting around to posting. As my dad said, you hear about something like this and try to have a picture in your head that is the worst possible picture you can imagine; that way, when you actually see the damage, you won't be as shocked. Even after using this self-defense mechanism, I was still unprepared for this scene of the farm as it appeared the morning after the tornado.

Here ia a picture of what used to be Kevin and Judy's house.

To show the progress that was made in the first week of cleanup, here are some shots of the heifer barn before cleanup began and by the end of the week, after the help of the MDS crew.

There is still work to be done, especially once rebuilding plans are finalized. The CMA Church (One Alliance Avenue, Coudersport, PA 16915) are collection donations on behalf of Kevin and Judy and the Hickox Bible Union Church (2030 Hickox, Genesee, PA 16932) are collecting on behalf of Jim and Sharon.

There may be some good pictures that Jim Hoopes took when he flew over one night. You may want to check it out see if you can get some from him. Great job!!!
I think that there may have been a couple tornados. The trees behind Grandma's house are mostly flat down. Then at the end of her drive the trees twist. There is also some tornado damage out by Sharon Corderman's house above the farm. I think the first damage was the straight winds behind Grandma's and the the tornado from the other side of the valley. We should take a ride when you come down.

Yeah, I wasn't sure it was tornado damage on the south hill, I thought most of those trees were pretty flat, but I didn't get a close look.

I did walk through the woods behind grandmas house and I didn't think that was tornado damage. There are some trees lying in a couple of different directions, but I can't say thay were twisted. It was a little more open back there from previous logging, so I think that allowed the trees to topple a little more easily.

Did you mean the trees at the end of the driveway in the pasture? Because yeah those were definitely twisted. I don't think I marked those on the map though...

In any case, grandma must have had a guardian angel sitting on top of her house because there are trees sown all around there.
